Behind the scenes: Sketch for Red Baron concept

A Red Baron t-shirt was a must, especially since the name of the company has the word "baron" in it and I was glad we were able to release this design for the summer. The sketch shown was the original concept for the Red Baron tee. As you can see, it was basically identical as what you see on the shirt, except the shirt of course is more detailed. I wanted the design to be clean and not gritty, because Manfred von Richthofen was a fine tactical combat pilot. It was necessary to show the triplane and the original sketch didn't give a clear example. In the final result, you can see the plane diving down, which was a popular maneuver that was used by the Red Baron when he went to attack. I did not want a gritty pilot, especially since the Von Richtofen wasn't very rough in appearance according to the pictures available. I didn't want to the design to be in honor as well, but more of Branded Baron's "Red Baron". The plane, name of the design, and cross is where the resemblance ends. I wanted to have the crazy cartoon like missiles to give the design a bold and explosive feel. The style was influenced by street art and a certain video game. See if you can figure it out. I did make sure that they were original and that the illustrations were not copied from anywhere. I felt the target in the background fit very well, because fighter pilots have to be aces at what they do and hit their target. The border was to give it an alarmed and retro feel, with the top not closed, so you can see the pilot is coming down from the sky. The "Air Fresh" was removed, because it didn't fit and sounded more like a commercial airline. The design had to be fly, because the idea was "red baron" and what's another synonym for "cool", "fresh", "dope"? Fly. There were other ideas brought up and tried out for the design, but simply did not make the final design. I think the final result is fantastic and if you don't have one, I suggest you purchase it before they're gone.  There are some sizes that are no longer in stock and there will not be any reprints.
