Put in the work

As I was thinking earlier about my brand and where I want to take it in the future, I started looking towards references of other brands and goal oriented people to see how they reached it. The bottom line is, which I've heard time and time again whether it's through sports, reading entrepreneurial articles, or talking with entrepreneurs/businessmen is you have to put in the work. I tweeted earlier, "To achieve what you want, you have to put in the work." There may be some luck involved, but for the most part you have to put yourself in range to reach a goal. Am I where I want to be? Am I where I want Branded Baron to be? How can I take things to the next level? Those are a couple questions that pop up in my head. It's definitely an uphill battle when there's a brand new "clothing line" that comes out everyday. How can I be seen more? Should I advertise more? Should I create controversy? Some questions are easier answered and put into motion than others. Some answers are not the right ones, but it may help get the ball rolling to find the right one.  I cannot predict the future of Branded Baron, but I can only set goals and bust my ass so I can reach them.

This short diatribe is just a reminder to myself and to everyone who has a goal that we need to do what's necessary to excel. How much do we really want our goals and are we willing to sacrifice for them? It's easy to say yes, but time will tell if we were   delusional or correct all along. What constantly burns the fire beneath me is constantly being inspired whether it's through design or discussing business with fellow entrepreneurs/friends. I'm always reminded that if they're headed in the right direction, I want to be on the same path, but through my tasks that I set. Bitching and moaning about someone else's progress, does nothing for me and it shouldn't matter to anyone else. Maybe it helps us ventilate our frustrations, but it does nothing productive. Everything factors in when you're trying to achieve something and putting in the time and elbow grease is a main one. My apologies if I sound too preachy on this late night food for thought post.

The Good Vibes Tour Brooklyn Recap

Hey, Everyone! I hope you're all good this evening. On Monday night I went to the Good Vibes Tour Brooklyn show and had a good time. Charmingly Ghetto gave me the heads up about the show last week and I decided to roll through to show support. I had a good time and was able to see some artists from Boston, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles. My friend Lori, from Cavata Clothing told me her friend/sponsored artist Natural was performing, so I thought it'll be another artist on the bill that I know to support.
I arrived in the middle of Natural's set and saw him do his thing and the amount of people there for a show on a Monday night wasn't bad. I brought my camera to take some photos and record the performances of the show for the video recap that you see above. After Natural performed L.A.'s Radio rocked on stage with Shema Jones. The performance was cool and I gave my props after the show and I have the cd Radio gave me in my car. Charmingly Ghetto was next up and he did his thing and it's good to see him back in Brooklyn performing again. For those that don't know, C.G. performed back at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival by opening up the performances after winning the Show & Prove competition. He's a chill dude and definitely looking to find ways to always get better, when he asked for my feedback of his performance after the show. C.G. will definitely be a rapper that is earning his dues and someone you'll want to check out. Dutch Rebelle, another Boston rapper follow Charmingly Ghetto and she was fun to watch. Most of the people I've never seen or heard of and I have to keep an open mind, because I have no idea how good or bad anyone is going to be and Dutch Rebelle was good. She had good energy and interacted with the crowd and showed female rappers aren't garbage and can hang if not better with the male counterparts. The final set was Divine Scienze consisting of Scienze and King I Divine who just had a badass set. Once King I Divine started playing the first beat, it had everyone in the head bopping their head, then the Scienze just killed it. The performance was on point and brought the energy that you need in a live show. It was cool that their was a cypher in the middle of the set and it was party at the end with a Soul Train Line. Overall, I had a good time and I was glad I made it out to watch this show.
I'm actually listening to the Good Vibes mix tape as I type this out and you may want to check it out, it's a free download or you can stream it, whatever you like. Click here to listen. You can listen to the following artists here:

Jay Wise feat. Chaos - Higher Music Video

Check out this awesome new Jay Wise music video featuring his partner in rhyme Chaos. I personally think this is probably his best or one of his best music videos. It's also a pretty cool song and not your typical hip hop song. Watch it and you can see a couple Branded Baron tees being worn in the video too.

Mini Bub Munny Time Lapse Drawing

I recorded myself working on my first Kid Robot Mini Bub munny. If you don't know they are vinyl figurines that you can customize yourself. I know I have plenty of improvement and I kind of felt what method works best after awhile. I started off with pencil and then followed it up with my markers. I think I would like to try using paint next time around and see if that's any easier. I think with this video I'm one step closer in being a hand model.

PackFM "Want what's mine" Music Video

Qn5 Music's PackFM released his latest music video for his new song "Want what's mine." I'll admit the video is nothing groundbreaking and it's okay, but I really like the song. Since the latest designs were not designed by anyone else, this was one of the songs that I had playing in the background giving me inspiration while I was working. The title alone had me thinking this works and what I wanted to convey with the theme for "Royal Rebellion." I want to earn my spot as a designer. I want to earn this company as a great clothing company. It is necessary to bring everything quality to anyone who rocks Branded Baron. My mind was focused on taking and earning what I want. I know hard work comes in the territory and I'm busting my ass to make sure I get this out there and this song helped me focus on that. The song is a good song and if it wasn't, it would not have provided me with any inspiration. This is a song that connected to me on my goals, so I like to thank PackFM for this. He's a genuine good dude who I've met, seen plenty of times, and who I had come perform at my college some years back and I'll always be a fan of his. Art and music, one in the same really, connects people on some level and it's something that can only be appreciated. So, before I continue my rambling, watch the video and if you like it like I do, then go and download it from Qn5's site here DOWNLOAD MP3

J. Craig - BAMBU (My crew) Music Video

J. Craig - BAMBU (My Crew) from Joe Zevallos on Vimeo.

New Jersey emcee J. Craig released his new music video for the song "BAMBU (My Crew)" produced by Mello Mel. If you look closely you'll see a Branded Baron tee. The video he wanted was to look real raw with the old school Wu-tang feel. If you like what you hear visit his site here and follow him on twitter.

Of course there will be times where what's posted there will be posted here and vice versa, but it'll be good. If you have a TUMBLR account follow Branded Baron at http://brandedbaron.tumblr.com/
