Bust Magazine's Craftacular/World Maker Faire Recap

What's going on everyone?! Good or great I hope. This past Saturday Branded Baron had space over at Bust Magazin'es Craftacular/World Maker Faire out in Queens. I had help with my boy Chi and I shared the spot with Anderson of Bluu Dreams. We all knew each other back when we were in college, so we were able to kick it while we were there to let people know about our brands.

This event was a fun one because it did have a bunch of vendors, free craft activities, and science events to check out. I will post the video later, but I saw the guys who made the mentos/diet coke spectacle at this World Maker Faire. It's Fall, but it certainly did not feel like it with the weather being so hot. Good ol' summer did not want to leave.

I honestly thought that Bluu Dreams and Branded Baron sharing wasn't going to be so great after we finished the set up, because it felt so tight and the customers would not have enough room to check out the shirts from both companies. We weren't able to hang our banners, but it worked out fine and everyone got a chance to feel the swagger of Branded Baron and Bluu Dreams. Yes, I said swagger.

This event was big and the space was huge, since it was in Flushing Meadows, Corona Park, Queens. Yes, we were by the tennis courts for the U.S. Open and near Citi Field. There were a lot of people of that came by and they stopped by to enjoy what we had to offer. I never know how the reaction is going to be for Branded Baron, but it was positive. I'm really happy people complimented designs and a bunch of people picked some shirts up. I tried selling hoodies, but it was way too hot and no one wanted to mess with that just yet. Not everyone who came by were from the NY Metro area, because I sold shirts to people from North Carolina and Cali. I definitely liked talking to all the people who came by. This one couple came back before leaving and I asked them how they enjoyed their day. They had a good time and that's great, because you need to have fun. I'm glad they left on a positive note and tee. :) The day was a great day to have fun, bottom line.

I definitely had tons of fun cracking jokes, listening the eclectic collection by the DJs, enjoying the vibe of the event, meeting new people, and having new people wear Branded Baron. I think I would like to do it again next year. Thanks to Anderson for this little collabo, we were able to bounce some new ideas off each other and that was good. I have to thank my boy Chi for helping me out and I think he's going to help me out again at Sneaker Con in October.

More pictures of the event, I will be posting a video later on:

I remember this caught his eye and his brother ended up purchasing the sorcerer hand's tee
This dude really liked this shirt and I'm glad he picked it up.

She liked this shirt and I remember she also didn't want to buy anymore black tees, which she looked like she wanted.

I thought they had a great name, Wanna hava cookie
This was a cool molding method.
Anderson of Bluu Dreams bringing some lunch. Yes, I had to help sell his shirts since he went out. There's nothing wrong with being nice.
Chi bringing the smoothies while rocking the guy's "Love Gambles All tee".
Yum. Gyro and a strawberry banana smoothie.

The 360 degree swing of death.

That was made with yarn. I found that to be quite impressive.

The mice for the life sized mouse trap

Not the greatest view, but that's the mousetrap. I don't know how many of you played or remember that board game.

Oh yea. The Diet Coke/Mentos show. They said it took 3 hours to set up, but it took about 3 minutes to have all the diet coke launch.
Looking out from inside. I see one of the BUST magazine tables.

I had to sit down and chill for a bit.

How you like dem apples?

I went apple picking with Tiff and of course I was rocking one of my favorite tees, the "To Live Is To Fight" green tee. I decided to juggle for a random little video and I had to use the Good Will Hunting quote. Now that I think about it, is it a little odd that I'm wearing a t-shirt with snakes on it while juggling apples? People seem to think that the forbidden fruit that Adam and Eve ate were apples. lol I thought it was worth a chuckle on the inside if you enjoy those stories.

It's the right season for apple picking, so pick some apples, eat them, make apple pies, eat apple sauce, and drink apple cider. Go with your significant other, family, or a bunch friends and have fun.

I received this via twitter and it was her first roller derby. It's awesome to see the Branded Baron sticker on there. Fun times I'm sure....I mean the roller derby, but putting the sticker on the helmet can be fun too.

Photo of the Day: DJ KYS rocking the Listen To Your Heart Hoodie

It's hoodie season officially. Today is the first day of Autumn, so the photo of the day should be one with someone rocking a hoodie. Here is DJ KYS rocking the Listen To Your Heart Hoodie He has to be sweating in the club while wearing this hoodie, because clubs are ridiculously hot.

M&L Skateramp Demo cancelled

I found out a couple minutes ago that this event will be cancelled this Sunday. Hopefully Wayne Township changes their minds. Kids need a spot to skate at and this is a good day for them to do so. It's better than them skating on private properties where they're not allowed to, if that's a concern. Maybe they'll be plans for a skate park there.

Again Branded Baron's booth will be there only Saturday the 25th. Also, you will see that Branded Baron will be sharing the booth with Bluu Dreams. Founder of Bluu Dreams, Anderson Munro is cool people and I thought we can bounce ideas off each other and help each other out, especially at an event like this. You need to collaborate and build with like minded people.

On Sunday, September 26th, I will be at the M&L Custom Ramps Skate Demo out in Wayne, New Jersey. M&L is a company that creates custom skate ramps and what a great way for this company to gain more exposure by having a skate competition. You won't see doing kick flips, especially since it's been a long time since I've been on a board. Maybe I'll bring my board on Sunday, but I'm definitely there to support  the local skate scene. There will be two competitions on each day and the winners for each day will win prizes. Even though Branded Baron will not be there on Saturday, the winner will have Branded Baron included with the rest of the prizes. So to all you skaters out there, come out. Branded Baron shirts and hoodies will be on sale too. I'm definitely looking forward to this event and recording the competition.

Wings Of Art interview for "Tomorrow's Talent"

Hello everyone!  Here is an interview that I did with Christina of Wings Of Art. We met last year at the Dunk Xchange and we've kept in contact since then. She's all about the arts and even has a poll on her blog about what is your favorite art form? Honestly, I never answered it, because I don't know which one really is my favorite. It's like asking a parent, "Who's your favorite child?" You can't do it.

This interview is informative about the history of Branded Baron and I give some tips that I picked up to share with those who interested business. It's funny this interview was done so many months ago, before the winter line was released, but it's not really dated.  I hope you enjoy the interview.

Branded Baron on tap!

On Friday my boy Joe had a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project (foundation to help injured soldiers) which was sponsored by Branded Baron down at the bar Whitestone. Joe was guest bartending, so he and the female bartender were rocking Branded Baron shirts for this event.

It got packed early and some of the big shots from Wall Street finished a couple of bottles of Patrón early since it was a charity special that night. There were musicians playing early and then the party music came on after. Branded Baron did sponsor this event, so there were some shirts given out that night. There were promo cards and stickers given out as well. I really like that the one sticker was stuck by the beer on tap. I know the Wounded Warrior Project will be receiving a nice check from the money raised at this charity event.

Event for Wounded Warriors Charity THIS FRIDAY 9/17

I know this may be last minute, but recently I found out that a friend of mine and most of Branded Baron is having a little charity event to raise money for the Wounded Warriors Charity. The soldiers put their ass on the line to protect the United States as other soldiers for other countries and it's a very difficult job. Many are injured and some have a difficult time functioning back into society. The Wounded Warriors help them.

From their website:
# To raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women,
# To help severely injured service members aid and assist each other, and
# To provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.

So, my friend is throwing a party and guest bartending where all the money and tips will be going to this charity. My friend and I spoke and Branded Baron will sponsor the party. There will be artists playing good music as well as some awesome tunes in the background. The bartenders will be wearing Branded Baron. There's a chance you can win some Branded Baron shirts and there will probably be other goodies too.

Here's the info:

Date: Friday Sept. 17

Time: 6:30pm - 11:00pm
Location: Waterstone
79 Pearl Street New York, NY 10004-2602

Here's my friend's open invite on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=145802578772052&ref=mf

Let's have a good time for a good cause.

Open Road Music & Arts Festival Recap

This past Saturday was the Open Road Music & Arts festival up in Worcester, Massachusetts. I heard about this festival from Lori of Cavata Clothing and thought it would be a great opportunity to get some up close and personal exposure in part of the New England area. Tiff and I drove up the night before, so the following day it was easier to find the location for this event.
First, throughout the week I was nervous as I'm sure the people at Open Road, because of reports of Hurricane Earl. Luckily that day it was beautiful weather. We arrived, started to set up, and was excited to see how the day would turn out. The event was fenced, so anyone who wanted to enjoy the festivities had to pay to get in. A lot of the other vendors there were "Go-Green" awareness and promoting "Go-Green" options, which was cool, but it sort of felt out of place for a music & arts festival. They had two food vendors, which I hope next year they had more and they seemed to have only vegan food. I will say that the Vegan Thai food was delicious. What I thought was funny was that there was a hot food truck that parked right outside the fence and wasn't a food vendor for Open Road.
The day was slow and my main fear, before the Hurrican Earl ruining the event one, was that it wouldn't have been promoted right and not the turn out would be low. The vibe was great, but I felt there needed to be a lot more people to fully make this event really good.
One of my highlights was playing with the glider, which you see Tiff playing in the video. Those brought me back to my childhood days and they will be given as a freebie to those who order any Red Baron t-shirts.

The other vendors were cool and I definitely chat it up with Peter and Lori of Cavata, who brought a nice size crew along and Peter even copped a Red Baron tee. They're definitely cool people. Jeff of Elen's Candles was good guy who gave Tiff a free moisturizer. I used it and it's nice, girls it smells pretty.

The music ranged from jazz to folk music to rock 'n roll, which definitely made the day go by fast. There were some good bands that I'd like to see again if the Open Road festival happens again. Some notables were The Black Raspberries, The Roadkill Orchestra(whose pianist goes by Dr. Gonzo and reminded me of a professional wrestler when he spoke) Love In Stockholm, Goosepimp Orchestra, and Sam Kininger Band. Some band members from all the bands seemed to like what was for sale and some purchased a shirt or two. I personally think the jazz bands killed it. It does not matter what kind of music that you like, their sets were on point.

Overall, Tiff and I had a good time which is important when selling at events, besides the most important part which is the selling. If Open Road has the event again, I could see myself bringing Branded Baron back and hopefully they make a couple improvements as well. Now a piece of Massachusetts knows about Branded Baron and I know the people that bought shirts are happy.

Here are some pictures from the event.
